Grinding your teeth at night
TAG:

Do you ever wake up feeling that your neck, jaw and head are completely tight and tense? If you do, then chances are that you are a grinder. During the day you won’t notice this happening, however, as soon as you are asleep as night, you are going to find that you have no control on whether your grind your teeth or not.

When you grind your teeth at night, you are going to have an impact on your neck and your jaw muscles. These muscles can become tight and tense, particularly where they meet your jaw. This tightness can then spread up and down your neck. Many people who grind their teeth at night will also find that they suffer with neck pain and headaches on a regular basis.

These people will come to me and want to find a treatment for their pain, however, there is also a good chance that they simply will not know where it comes from. I will perform an examination on your neck and jaw, diagnosing whether or not you are grinding your teeth during the night.

It is also a good idea if your suspect that you grind your teeth at night, that you see your dentist. They will be able to see whether or not this is having an impact on your jaw and your teeth. They can help you to make sure that you limit the impact that this act has on your neck and jaw, making sure that you don’t end up with a swollen and sore face.
